Lines on palmprint are similar to rivers, valleys or trenches. This project starts from an idea that "we have grounds in our hands. Palm is a piece of the world."
In this work, the system detects a river, a valley or a trench which is similar to a line on your palmprint and shows you the result on the screen. You can feel expanding of the world from your palm. Futhermore, this work makes a opportunity and a experience of peering your palm which is a part of your body.
Lines of palmprint increases and They become more complex as you get older. Lines on palmprint and rivers in the world are similar in this point, too.

人 は誰しも掌に個人の土地を所有している。掌をじっと見ると、そこに刻まれた皺は河川や峡谷に見え、身体を巡る血液とは異なった「第2の流れ」が現れてい る。"a Piece of"は来場者の掌紋に類似した土地を世界地図から検索する事で、身体が世界を構成する一部"piece"である事を実感する作品である。また、同時に自 身の肉体に対する認識を深める機会を与える。
　カメラが入った箱の中に手を入れると、コンピュータが掌紋を認識して類似した河川を画像認識で世界地図の中から探索してスクリーンに表示する。さらに、箱の隣にある地球儀はインタフェースとなっており、回転させるとさらに他のエリアから類似した河川の探索を行う。
