a Piece of
Interactive Installation

"a Piece of" is an interactive installation that can find a earth view that is similar to a user's palm line in shape using computer vision and Google API.
This system enables users to jump to strange lands and travel the world in the virtual space by matching palm lines and shapes of earth views (rivers, valleys and mountain ranges) on the Google Earth.

Process
1. Idea sharing at the lesson

This work was created in the lesson of the University of Tokyo "Seisakuten".
In this lesson, students exhibit hands-on art pieces using technology and design at two exhibitions (summer and autumn).
We shared ideas in the first lesson and reviewed each other.
2. Prototyping and Review

I created the first prototype in a week to display a interactive installation at the summer exhibition.
I received reviews from artists and designers and thought about the user's experience.
3. Developing the hardware and software

I designed the physical interface and improved the work.
4. Exhibition and Presentation
I demonstrated the final output at three exhibitions and gave the presentations twice.
